Making Sure your Bed Measures Up

Before buying a bed, the main consideration you need to take into account is the bed sizes chart. And while bedsteads can be larger than the mattress itself – the mattress can give a good indication as to how much space your new bed will take up.

One of the most common questions we get asked is what size each of the bed types corresponds to in cm, inches and feet. So to help, we’ve created this handy chart:

Bed Sizes Chart UK

This chart should be used as a guideline when buying a mattress or bed, and it’s important to note that metric and imperial sizes are not exact equivalents. There can be a tolerance of +/-2cm (+/-0.8”) with all quoted measurements.

Choosing your Bed Size

Single beds: These beds are perfect for guest bedrooms and kid’s rooms.

Small Doubles beds: Ideal for a single person in smaller bedrooms.

Double beds: The most common bed type – suitable for couples as well as one person.

King Size beds: Offers plenty of space for two people.

Super King Size beds: These beds offer maximum space and comfort.

What Size is my Bed?

Most beds come in standard sizes as per the chart above. However, some bed manufacturers and retailers use different sizes, such as European measurements. If you’re not sure if your bed measures up – please feel free to give us a call if you’d like any advice on how to measure your bed.
